Biography
My interest in photography started back in 2004 while I was studying for my degree at the University of Nottingham. The School of Biology was the only department to offer modules in photography, specifically “Biological Photography and Imaging” and this is where I learnt and developed the creative skills and techniques for using traditional film SLR cameras.
After my degree I continued my studies by doing a full A-level course in Art and Design Photography. Building on the skills I had already gained, I learnt new techniques for developing black and white images in the darkroom, as well as using Adobe Photoshop in digital photography. My course also allowed me to study the history of photography with particular reference to iconic photographers and photographic movements.
During my career break in 2007, I was able to apply many of the skills that I had learnt during my studies to record images of landscapes, natural history and architecture in some amazing places around the world, including Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and across the United States.
The images on the website were shot using a Fujifilm FinePix s9500 or Nikon D5100 digital SLR and have been enhanced slightly on Adobe Photoshop/ Lightroom.
I hope you enjoy browsing through the galleries and I intend to keep the website up-to-date with new images from my various travels - James.
